The Road to Paradise — on Two Wheels - E-BIKES ALLOWED!
You’ve heard the name — now come ride it. Yes, THE Road to Paradise is real… and it’s gravel. Of course it is — what else would lead to Paradise?
This is Glenorchy’s most scenic backroad (locals will back us on that), and it’s an absolute gem for mountain bikers. Expect a mix of flowing gravel, creek crossings, and dreamy views as you roll through lush beech forest, open farmland all beneath the towering peaks of the Southern Alps. It’s the perfect ride if you’re not here to suffer — just to soak it all in.
Beginner-friendly, family-approved, and ridiculously beautiful. And hey, while you're cruising along, see how many mountains you can name — bonus points if you spot the ones from The Lord of the Rings.

Route Map
Rider Readiness – Fluid Paradise Dash 57km
This is it — The Paradise Road. World-famous for its scenery, film backdrops, and raw natural beauty, and lucky you — you get to ride it twice: out and back!
The Fluid Paradise Dash is our shortest course at 57km, but don’t mistake it for a walk in the park. It’s a proper backcountry adventure with creek crossings, rolling hills, and some of the most spectacular views in the country. You’ll ride through Glenorchy’s iconic high-country farmland and into native beech forest, with the Southern Alps towering all around.
What to Expect:
If you’ve comfortably completed a ride like the Lake Dunstan Trail or other 50km outings, this will be a rewarding next step. There are no technical sections, but riders must be confident on gravel and able to cross creeks — most are ankle deep, but a few can be deeper depending on conditions.
There are no road closures in place for this event, so you must follow all standard road rules at all times. Always ride on the left-hand side and stay alert to traffic. We’ve chosen October for this race to avoid peak traffic season — but vehicles are still likely. Stay sharp on blind corners and fast descents, and ride with caution throughout.
E-Bikes Welcome:
We’ve got a dedicated e-bike category! Just be mindful when crossing water — e-bike riders are responsible for their own safety and the condition of their bike, especially around motors and batteries.
Come Prepared:
Bring warm layers, snacks, water, and basic tools. The weather can change quickly in this area — it’s Paradise, but it still demands respect.
Support on Course:
Aid stations and a tail-end Charlie will be on course. We’ll help with basics, but this is a self-supported ride — part of the fun is being ready for whatever comes your way.
